I had an interesting 12th today -- up very early (and now, seemingly, to bed fairly late), and a day jam-packed with varied and fun tasks.

As always, 12 of 12 provides a great challenge to take stock of the sometimes mundane events of one's day and somehow make it compelling.

August 12, 2009 - 1

One expense I simply won't give up is that of my bi-weekly cleaning people. (I'm not a cleaner, don't want to be a cleaner, I suck at it (no vacuum pun intended), so I might as well have somebody who IS good at it do it....)

They come every other Wednesday between 7:00 and 8:00 am (this schedule was set up years ago when I was working a day job that started at 9:30 -- this way, they could be done before I left for the day. Now that I'm -- ahem -- self-employed, the alarm going off at 6:30 is not a happy sound. But I don't want to upset the apple cart by changing the cleaning folks' schedule, so up with the birds it is.)

This front park of my lawn has pretty much died. I'm not quite sure what happened (but my neighbor is blaming it on my sprinklers malfunctioning fairly regularly).

My neighbor (his name is Ernie) suggested getting some grass/sod/clump things, dig out the weeds, make holes sporadically throughout the dead area, put in the sod clumps and re-generate the yard.

So, since I was up so early, I figured why not be one with the earth?

These are the two pallets of St. Augustine grass that I was told to "plug in" to my death valley area. (Once plugged in, supposedly St. Augustine spreads itself like gangbusters.)

And my arm and leg muscles are killing me now.

I'm definitely not cut out for yardwork....

Looking back at last month's 12 of 12, I had an audition the 12th as well! (Now, if we could just manifest auditions on every day with a 1 in it, or a 2, or multiples of 12 (no, wait, that won't work).

This is the entrance to 1438 Gower (home of Alison Jones Casting (The Office, Parks & Recreation, et al).

I got a supreme parking space !

Looking back over the day, I realize that, after this event, I completely neglected to record the rest of my exciting experiences (in a nutshell, it was: Staples for a new monitor, CostCo (wasted trip to get contact lenses with a prescription that was expired -- no, I didn't know it was expired), a demo reel editing client appointment, two actor audition tapings, a short walk with the dogs (very short -- it's difficult when one of the dogs is blind and deaf...), and a bank deposit for one of my clients).

Party down.

Every once in a while, In-n-Out just calls my name. (Double-double, animal-style, no lettuce, and today I tried fries animal-style (OMG).)

Started playing around with editing a new episode of Cast This! The Reality. I've actually got a genius editor working on it (Andrew Moorman: shout-out), but I wanted to do a few scenes myself (I'm trying to improve my technical ability on Final Cut).

The last two nights have supposedly been the best time to view the Perseids meteor shower. I've been out both nights, searching skyward, and.... nada....

So instead I snapped this shot of the rising moon.

Somehow, I missed lots of photo ops today and, consequently, didn't quite get twelve pics. This is my favorite electrical switch panel (it's in my kitchen), so I thought I'd share it as my 12th of 12!
