May 12, 2010

Today was a day of planned errands, many of which I'd postponed for days. Did some client work in the morning, then was getting ready to head out, when an unexpected glitch occurred.

Still turned out to be a productive day, though!

Thanks, Chad Darnell, for putting together 12 of 12 -- you can see more info about the 12 of 12 project here.

Coffee in my Hollywood mug. What can I say?

May 12, 2010 - 2

Fred (aka Freddy Krueger) the cat and Cricket (the new dog) hanging out in the bathroom. Something has peaked their interest...

Cricket actually looks bigger than Fred here, but she is not. He towers over her!

Just as I was getting ready to run some errands, power outage!!

First one I've experienced at this house. Ran outside to check the neighborhood, where one of my neighbors was doing the same. No idea what happened, but I figured I'd wait around for it to come back on.

The power outage revealed that one of my two UPS battery back-up units was not working.

So I went online to shop for a new one (using my Sprint Cellular Wi-Fi thingamabob -- the greatest invention ever! Connectivity everywhere!).

I finally couldn't wait anymore, so I took off to run my errands. Plus, the interior temperature was climbing....

(This is a battery-operated clock.)

Starbucks can now make their frappacinos with soy milk -- I hate soy milk, but it's masked here with the deliciousness of strawberries, and soy milk is good for me. Right? Right??

A bank deposit for a client.

A stop at Fresh & Easy, where I returned some cereal I didn't like (yes, they take stuff back) and instead bought some chocolate chip cookies. A fair trade, I think....

A meager deposit at the credit union, then paid my car loan.

Yet one more stop at the mattress store, this time to exchange my mattress.

After 3 1/2 weeks, I am still not comfortable with the memory foam mattress. So I sucked it up, paid the restocking fee and the delivery fee, and I get a new (traditional coil) mattress on Friday.

Hoping for the best....

A friend of mine showed me his "patio garden" of vegetable plants, and I got all excited that maybe I can do that, too! So I went to Lowes and bought several different types of tomato plants, as well as..... zucchini, cucumber, red bell pepper, chives, strawberries, and raspberries.

Plus containers, potting soil, and vegetable/fruit plant food.

Should be a lovely harvest if it all works!

And, finally, a stop at a pet supply outlet place where I picked up this nifty "tunnel bed" for Cricket. Despite its odd appearance, she loves it!

When I got home, the electricity was on (my neighbor told me it had only been out for another hour after I left the house). Everything seems okay, so that's good (a house with electronics is scary without power).

Tomorrow -- vegetable planting!
